Back to the 90s

This is one of those random posts when you get a little inspired by pop culture from the past. After spending summer watching the early seasons of shows from the 90s - Friends and Sex and the City, I thought I would reel back in time and roleplay the fashion of that decade. Aside from the crop tops, crazy patterned shirts and neon, rock-chic really set trend in the late 90s. So I decided to try the look..

Ultramarine Summer

Back after a while...but since we're still in the midst of summer I thought I'd experiment with my New York buys and go bold with it.
I always love playing with prints although I like putting it with a contrasting color that stands out so it looks a little out of the ordinary :)

Pulse and it's Amazing Jewellery!

For those of you who are not aware, which I assume will be most, Pulse is an annual Home, Gift and Fashion Accessorises Trade Show in Earls Court. I was actually there promoting a mobile app developer called Poqstudio but I did get a chance to take a look around...
Here's all the wonderful things I found that I loved! The thing about these trade shows is that the items sold are so unique and different...not your ordinary high street stuff....they are often handmade and one of a kind and I love it! I even bought a few things they were selling at the end of the day :)

Diamonds are Forever

In honour of the Diamond Jubliee Weekend that just passed, I decided to make a summer come back with an elegant and themed outfit. This elegant dress I bought in New York is chic, pretty and salutes British fashion and patriotism in a subtle way. Ironic I know, since most of the pieces are not from British brands or designers but a girl can only try... I hope you all like it, please comment and tell me what you think.

The Other Waldorf Girl

I based this outfit on the concept of Blair Waldorf having a slightly urban side to her while still keeping the elegance intact. The fitted pastel colored dress with coloured pearls is in season and upper-east side worthy. The jacket with bunched up with the wedge heels creates a more urbanized side to a seemingly sophisticated look. Overall I think it works...what do you think?

Chestnut springtime

Springtime makes you think of daffodils, blossoming trees and hints of sunshine. If you live in London however, don't be fooled and ditch the warm fleecy jackets quite yet. With that theme, I decided to do this autumn-y springtime look. Beige and Light colours are prominent trends for the summer and the brown the leather jackets and high-leg boots make it appropriate for the weather as well as being Heritage and classy. I personally love the necklace with high neck dresses as it adds a little elegance.

Aztec Rocker

Aztec is big and seems to be everywhere these days so I thought I would incorporate a rock-chic look to Aztec and experiment a little. Clashing and contrasting things is what style is all about from my point of view...You may love it, you may hate it but atleast you put the outfit together and it's not a knock off some manikin from a shop window on Oxford Street.

My (very limited) London Fashion Week experience

I've never been to actual fashion week by which I mean the main venue (Somerset House). But even with the realization that having had no real solid commitment to the fashion industry, there was no way I would get in to a show or exhibition, the thought of being around the Fashion Week environment excited me. So on Saturday, I decided to go and take a look around Somerset House at what all the fuss was about.
It was like seeing the most fashionable/quirky and cool parts of the world come together and I basically saw fashion as an art form come to life around me. Even just walking around the area was enough show people's dedication to looking individual and extremely stylish even if it meant wearing 7-inch heels and ragged skirts and mini dresses in freezing cold, rainy weather. Here are some of pictures of the scene and street style;
